In 2010, Loop Head Peninsula and Kilkee in Co Clare earned coveted EDEN recognition under the theme ‘Aquatic Tourism’. The European Destinations of Excellence EDEN Award, is an EU accolade for emerging tourism destinations which are developing in a responsible and sustainable manner. In 2013, Loop Head was named the “Best Place to Holiday in Ireland” by The Irish Times Newspaper and was shortlisted in the Best Destination category at the World Responsible Tourism awards.
The Loop Head Peninsula is the only Irish destination listed in the 2014 Global Sustainable Top 100 Destinations and in 2015 took the Gold medal at the Irish Responsible Tourism Awards.
In 2014, The Loop Head Heritage Trail was launched. Tales of ghost ships and a hidden city are among a wealth of folklore to be explored on this pioneering heritage trail. The 60km Loop Head Peninsula Heritage Trail takes in 18 local attractions including the West Clare Railway, Querrin Pier, the Church of the Little Ark, Kilkee Victorian Town, and the bridges of Ross and Loop Head Peninsula.

Kilkee
The town of Kilkee is just 15 mins. away and one of the country's most popular seaside resorts with quite a few natural amenities around its horseshoe-shaped bay. The safe sheltered sandy beach is protected by Duggerna Reef, which is a natural wonder itself with some large and small rock pools full of marine life. Breathtaking cliff walks offer splendid scenery. This Cliff scenery all along to Loop Head Lighthouse is one of Ireland's greatest natural attractions.
